Three things, all enforced by the API on every request: which datasets you can reach, which markets, and how far back the history goes. A free key sees gold\_ohlcv\_1m for BTC, ETH, SOL and HYPE over the trailing month; Pro sees every dataset, every market including HIP-3, and the full record. The MCP intelligence layer is scoped separately: on free it ranks every market over the trailing 7 days with 20 tool calls a day, and Pro lifts both limits. What happens if I ask for something outside my plan? You get a clear answer rather than silent zeros. A partition outside your slice returns 404 so the catalog shape stays opaque, and the MCP tools say the request requires Pro.
